Ukrainian Delegation at PFI

A 30-person delegation from Ukraine visited PFI on 8 July. Pirmasens was one of the stops on the itinerary of a fact-finding trip organised by the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety within the framework of a project entitled «Establishment of Energy Agencies in Ukraine».

Members of the high-level delegation, which was received by the Ministers of Economic Affairs of the German federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse, Eveline Lemke and Tarek Al-Wazir, respectively, as well as by other dignitaries in the course of its seven-day tour of Germany, were particularly interested in developments at PFI in the area of biogas and storage technologies.

Dr. Kerstin Schulte, Managing Director of PFI, welcomed the participants in the PFI engineering laboratory and was very pleased to see the keen interest of the guests in the Institute’s research activities. Dr. Stefan Dröge, Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology, outlined PFI’s innovative power-to-gas concept.

The delegation was then taken on a guided tour of the new thermally self-sufficient biogas plant at Pirmasens-Winzeln Energy Park by EU Project Manager Dr. Michael Müller.
